I work at drawing, I make drawings.

Reinterpretations of space, of line, of blackness, occupied a long period of exploration. And for about a decade now,

I have been attempting to find another kind of equilibrium for the gaze involved in the act of drawing, focusing mainly on issues relative to mastery and dexterity inherent to the

generally-held idea of drawing. As a result,

I find myself drawing with eyes closed, or with an uncooperative tool, or with no tool at all … In order to surrender direct control of the final aspect of a piece of work, I subject it to predetermined actions or events that stand outside my will, to chance -- and I then accept the outcome, whatever it may be.
